Week 2 - Belton

Victoria West/East High School's award-winning robotic team, 9121-Mavericks, showcased their resilience and skill at the recent robotics competition held in Belton. Competing against 41 other teams, the Mavericks faced a significant challenge when a major collision on the field knocked their battery out of the robot. Undeterred, the team sprang into action, swiftly repairing the damage and demonstrating their ability to adapt under pressure.

Despite the setback, 9121-Mavericks demonstrated their unwavering determination and strategic prowess, ultimately securing a place in the finals matches. Their outstanding performance throughout the competition earned them a well-deserved second-place finish, solidifying their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the world of robotics.

Currently ranked 8th in the state, 9121-Mavericks are setting their sights on even greater achievements. The team is eagerly preparing to compete in April at the FIRST Robotics District Championship in Houston. This upcoming competition presents an opportunity for the Mavericks to showcase their innovation, teamwork, and dedication on a statewide stage.

"We are incredibly proud of the resilience and skill demonstrated by our 9121-Mavericks team," said Nathan Mersino coach of the Victoria West/East High School robotics team. "Despite the challenges we faced during the Belton competition, our team rose to the occasion and showed their true potential. We are excited to continue our journey and compete against the best at the State Championship in Houston." Kathryn Fitzgerald, the team's Safety Captain, "Our ability to quickly address the robot damage reflects our commitment to safety and efficiency. This is our top priority, and this second-place finish speaks to our dedication and teamwork."
